The
Beginning

The Beginning

Taskspace is an all-in-one workspace tool which empowers the user to organize the entire company ecosystem like daily tasks assigning, team/project management, internal notes, client meetings, files management, team communication, performance monitoring, and much more.

The idea was to build an integrated work on the go tool that helps any company invest more time doing actual work than spending more hours on laying ground works manually. Thereby by boosting the productivity and efficacy. I was approached to rethink and realign their minimal viable product they already had with their pre-defined set of ideologies, business goals, and to improve the overall measure of user satisfaction and product experience.

After analysing the overall MVP user response and gathering the piece of mind from company stakeholders. I decided to research many existing competitor products and do my own user research with the aid of surveys and interviews.

As result of drawing out the empathy map through multiple interview sessions and extensive market study I got to get down the crucial pain points in the MVP as well as how the goal of the users were mismatched. This helped in determining the key changes needed in UI and product design.

Key Understandings

...

Realign the hypothesis & core assumptions the client had with their MVP which worked as yet another tools rather become part of the team.

...

Structure the UI to adopt the kanban methodology with drag drop interface, the ability to assign tasks and sub-tasks to multiple users, project overview etc.,

...

Design the UI to be flexible and adaptable through in-built plugins & third party tools which can be added or removed based on organization niches.

...

Create a user friendly dashboard filled with features such as custom notes, performance score, team growth, project progression and event planning to engage users.

...

Build an organized in-house storage feature for sharing the crucial files and documents which the MVP lacked and most stakeholders interviewed wished to have.

...

Create AI assisted chat functionality with one-on-one messaging, create project channels, audio/video chatrooms etc.,

Ideation
and User Flow

Ideation
and User Flow

The pre-design research helped me to find the balance between the major needs of the core user groups, business goals, and technological capabilities to achieve the task and user flow models. We decided to follow the SCRUM methodology and proceed with series of agile sprints using eisenhower matrix.

Also, I sat to recreate the brand identity and logo, I choose a combination of bright, contrasting colors and muted slate tones to strike a harmonious balance between an engaging, yet relaxing space-themed environment.

Color and Typography

DARK INDIGO

A symbol of integrity and intuition. It builds the feelings of wisdom and deep sincerity.

NEON PINK

A symbol of excitement and warmth. It gives the sense of safety and calmness.

PASTEL PINK

A symbol of friendliness and balance. Color that gives a feeling of joy and empathy.

Brand Logo

Brainstorming was done using mind-mapping exercise and the logo was redesigned to curate concept that conveyed formation of an idea when many people or blocks of organizational life cycle or various structural teams come together.

Information Architecture

I started wireframing with sketches on the paper and then on figma. Then low fidelity prototyes were created, tested, validated and cross-verified the core features. The wireframes went through iterations following user testing. Target audience seemed to really like the simplicity of the design and the flow in general. This provided a clear vision about how to implement all features and created a satisfying structure for both users and business.

Final
Design

Final
Design

Using UsabilityHub, I put my iterations to test by creating several A/B tests including a task-based navigation test to assess navigability, reachability, and an information hierarchy preference test to identify which organizational display of elements were most favoured. Keeping the key understanding data, branding and user response in mind, I transformed my final iterations into final prototype by weaving in the various successful changes.
